Sylhet in May: Bangladesh's last Test here
Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 78 runs at this ground in May, completing a 2-0 series win. Pakistan won the toss and bowled, and Litton Das's 126 carried Bangladesh to 278. Pakistan were bowled out for 232, Babar Azam top-scoring with 68. Bangladesh then built a lead of 436 with 390 in the second innings, Mushfiqur Rahim making 137, Litton 69 and Mahmudul Hasan Joy 52. Pakistan fought hard in the chase and reached 358, with Mohammad Rizwan making 94, before Taijul Islam finished with 6/120.
Spin did most of the work in that last innings: Taijul bowled 34.2 overs on his own and took six of the ten wickets.
How the two sides come in
Bangladesh's Tests in 2026: a 2-0 home win over Pakistan, 1-1 in Australia, and the Only Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi in October. West Indies won one and drew one at home to Sri Lanka, then shared a two-Test series 1-1 with Pakistan in Trinidad. The full results, with scores, are on the first Test's page.
Between these two sides, the most recent Test series, in the Caribbean in late 2024, finished 1-1: West Indies won in Antigua by 201 runs and Bangladesh levelled in Jamaica by 101 runs. Sylhet also staged a drawn National Cricket League match in early October, in which Mymensingh Division made 311 and Sylhet Division 327.
